"Introduction to Love". After our opening prayer, I asked a question, "What is Love?" i heard donuts, pets, parents, girlfriends, brothers. But 2 brothers in the class said "sometimes I don't when they..." So we discussed this and I asked if they have uncles and aunts. I said do they do annoying things to each other like your brother does?. So maybe this is just part of growing up and is for us to learn to love in spite of something we don't like. Time was up but we have started the conversation of Christian (brotherly) love that this society so needs to get past the identity and minutiae that cloud the real important stuff.
Again my topic was Love - They found the core of Brotherly love in our discussion.
"Where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, I am with you". Our first Youth Education Forum met on 9/10. The 3 of us got to know each other, we discussed various things. To set the tone, I started with a form of Lectio Devina or Divine Readings. I asked them to close their eyes and focus on what I am reading and tell me the one word that stands out for them. I then read Romans 12:2
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God -- what is good and acceptable and perfect."
One of them chose "what" and the other chose "will". You may think that youth don't understand the spirit and God. This indicates otherwise. Is this not the basic question we have? "WHAT IS YOUR WILL, GOD?"
I cannot wait to see what these 2 souls teach me this year!!!
